Ana Peleteiro, professional athlete: "I'm surprised by the number of people who finish marathons now."

More and more people are deciding to take up sports, choosing athletics as a discipline and marathons as short- or medium-term goals. Athlete Ana Peleteiro addressed all of them, sharing two very important pieces of advice before embarking on a run .
The Galician triple jumper, bronze medalist at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, expressed surprise at "the number of people who now finish marathons," recalling that before, "only a handful of people dared to run a half marathon or a marathon." "I swear, I'm amazed now to see how boys and girls who've never done any sport in their lives take up running and, in a matter of two or three months, they prepare for it, run it, and finish it," she expressed.
"I'm not criticizing all of you who are now doing sports. I think it's the best thing, and especially my sport, which is athletics. Get medical checkups ," Peleteiro advised, while also recommending paying for one for anyone without private insurance. "Running off without first checking that everything is okay is crazy," he warned.
Her suggestions didn't end there, as the European champion also pointed out that it's "important that you have your stride analyzed to see if you're really running correctly , if the shoes you're using are really suitable for your running style, and if they're not and you need help, run with insoles."
"There are two super important things: a medical examination and a gait analysis so you don't destroy your feet and knees running as many kilometers as you do. I personally admire you because I'm not capable of that , or at least not at the moment," Peleteiro concluded.
